Originating from the Andes, Tierra Negra products are handcrafted in just a few small villages, giving a simple, traditional and attractive look.
The body of each piece is made from a type of coarse grey clay, over which a fine terracotta glaze is applied and then burnished with semi-precious stones. Tierra Negra cookware is unique and used in many top restaurants. The clay Tierra Negra is made from is slightly porous, retains heat very well and enhances the flavour of food. Its attractive black satin finish also makes it ideal for serving food on the table and even for eating from directly. Tierra Negra suggest boiling water in the earthenware at first in order to seal the glaze fully. Tierra Negra cookware is truly organic, and can quite happily be taken from kitchen to the table for serving.
Suitable for use on Aga, gas, electric or ceramic cookers.
The oval shape of this casserole dish makes it ideal for joints of meat and whole chickens.
This round casserole is not as tall as the cooking pots.
